Crisis Meets AI: Navigating the Maze of AI-Fueled Disinformation

Dave has been advising companies on reputation management and digital communications for more than two decades. Dave helps companies around the globe to navigate complex integrated and digitally-driven crises, dynamics and channels in order to evolve and safeguard their reputations. Dave leads Edelman’s global Counter-Disinformation Unit—the first holistic private sector offering bringing together intelligence, strategy and response capabilities aimed at combating mis- and disinformation threats. Dave also oversees Societal Issues Navigator—Edelman’s consulting offering focused on developing decision frameworks and governance to navigate complex societal issues. He has supported counselled companies around the world on major global events including the Israel/Hamas war, the war in Ukraine and the U.S. Supreme Court decision on abortion rights. Dave is a member of Edelman’s global AI taskforce, with a focus on helping companies to prepare for and build resilience against internal and external risks related to generative AI. Prior to his current role, Dave was EVP and National Practice Lead, Digital, leading Edelman’s Canadian Digital practice across its five offices. Previously, Dave worked at a mid-sized communications agency where he founded and led the Digital practice. Dave has also worked in communications within the public sector in both ministry and central agency roles. In 2008 Dave was awarded the Amethyst Award, the highest award available to Ontario public service staff.
