“CCPA” means the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, Cal. Civil Code § 1798.100 et seq. and its implementing regulations.
“Cookies” means small, often encrypted text files located in browser directories.
“NDPA” means the Nebraska Data Privacy Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. § 87-1001 to 87-1130.
“Personal data” under the NDPA and Texas Data Privacy and Security Act means any information, including sensitive data, that is linked or reasonably linkable to an identified or identifiable individual. This term includes pseudonymous data when the data is used in connection with additional information that reasonably links the data to an identified or identifiable individual. Publicly available information is not “personal data.”
“Personal Information” means information that relates to or describes, an individual, where that individual is identifiable or is reasonably capable of being linked, directly or indirectly to a particular consumer, device, or household. Anonymous information is not Personal Information.
“Sensitive data” under the NDPA and Texas Data Privacy and Security Act means a category of personal data. The term includes: (A) personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, mental or physical health diagnosis, sexuality, or citizenship or immigration status; (B) genetic or biometric data that is processed for the purpose of uniquely identifying an individual; (C) personal data collected from a known child; or (D) precise geolocation data.
“Targeted advertising” under the NDPA and Texas Data Privacy and Security Act means displaying to a consumer an advertisement that is selected based on personal data obtained from that consumer’s activities over time and across nonaffiliated websites or online applications to predict the consumer’s preferences or interests. The term does not include: (A) an advertisement that: (i) is based on activities within a controller’s own websites or online applications; (ii) is based on the context of a consumer’s current search query, visit to a website, or online application; or (iii) is directed to a consumer in response to the consumer’s request for information or feedback; (B) the processing of personal data solely for measuring or reporting advertising performance, reach, or frequency.
“TDPSA” means the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, Tex. Bus. & Com. Code Ann. § 541.001 et seq.
“Third Party” means any third party unaffiliated with us to whom we disclose Personal Information.
“We,” “Us,” “Our,” and “Ragan,” whether capitalized or not, means Lawrence Ragan Communications, Inc. and its affiliates.
“You” or “Your,” whether capitalized or not, means all those who access, visit, and/or use our services.
Information Collection

When you browse ragantraining.com and have not registered for any online service from Ragan, you browse anonymously. Personal information—such as your name, address, phone number or e-mail address—is not collected by Ragan as you browse. However, Ragan may use “cookies” to automatically collect information about how our site is used. We may collect and track information such as the server your computer is logged onto, your browser type (for example, Safari or Google Chrome), and whether you responded to a Ragan banner advertisement or e-mail.
Registration for Online Products and Services. In order to provide you with a particular product or service online, we may request that you voluntarily supply us with personal or company information, including your e-mail address and phone number, for purposes such as correspondence, site registration, checking your account status, invoices, statements and other pertinent information online, making a purchase, or participating in online surveys and enabling us to provide an online product or service to you in an efficient manner. If you are a registered user of a Ragan online service, we may combine information about your use of ragantraining.com or other Ragan websites and the online products or services you utilize with certain other online and offline information we have about you as a Ragan customer and information you have provided to us.
We may also review information available from external sources, such as trial subscription data, to customize your online experience and present you with relevant online and offline offers and updates. We also may use “cookies” to enable our server to recognize you as a registered Ragan online service user when you re-enter our site.
Information Use

We may use, share, or sell your Personal Information for the following business purposes:

- In the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Ragan’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of a bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by Ragan about our Website users is among the assets transferred.
The information collected about how our site is used and whether you responded to Ragan advertisements and emails is used to measure response rates to banner ads and e-mail offers. If you have provided your e-mail address to us or to a company we have partnered with to make their products and services available to you, you consent to receive our marketing and promotional emails and offers.
We may also send you e-mail offers if you have provided your e-mail address to a third party and have opted in to receiving e-mail offers from other parties. These offers may be based on information you provided in your initial transaction with us, in surveys, from information that may indicate purchasing preferences as well as information available from external sources. These e-mail offers will come directly from Ragan. You can opt out from receiving e-mail offers from Ragan as described below in the section, Declining E-mail Offers.
When we send e-mails to you, we may be able to identify information about your e-mail address, such as whether you can read graphic-rich HTML e-mails. If your e-mail address is HTML-enabled, we may choose to send you graphic-rich HTML e-mails. Please note that we do not provide your e-mail address to Ragan business partners. However, we may send you offers on behalf of our Ragan business partners. Keep in mind that if you take advantage of an offer from a Ragan business partner and become their customer, they may independently wish to send offers to you. In this case, you will need to inform them separately if you wish to decline receiving future offers from them.
Categories of Personal Information We Collect
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of Personal Information:
- Identifiers. Examples include a real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, account name, social security number, driver’s license number, passport number, or other similar identifier.
- Customer Records Personal Information Categories. Examples include names, signatures, addresses, telephone numbers, education, and employment.
- Commercial Information. Examples include records of personal property, products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies.
- Professional or Employment-Related Information. Examples include current or past job history, job title, occupation, practice type/specialty, year of school graduation, professional provider number, or performance evaluations.

- Inferences Drawn from Other Personal Information. Examples include profiles reflecting a person’s preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes.

Do Not Track
We currently honor Global Privacy Control signals as opt-out requests for California residents. California Business & Professions Code § 22575(b) provides that California residents are entitled to know how a website operator responds to “Do Not Track” browser settings. We continue to review new technologies and may adopt a DNT standard once one is created.
Nebraska.
The NDPA grants Nebraska residents rights over their personal data. As a Nebraska resident, you have the right to:

The TDPSA grants Texas residents rights over their personal data. As a Texas resident, you have the right to:
