Catherine McGlown is Senior Vice President of Communications, Sustainability, and Public Policy at Pathward, where she leads enterprise strategy across reputation, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, public policy, and brand. As a senior executive, she aligns purpose-driven initiatives with business priorities to strengthen trust, advance financial inclusion, and support long-term value creation.
With more than 20 years of leadership experience, McGlown has advanced communications transformation, embedded sustainability across business operations, launched community impact programs, and built corporate responsibility strategies for major organizations, including Humana. She is recognized for connecting purpose, reputation, and business strategy to drive organizational impact.
McGlown extends her leadership through board and advisory service with the Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals, Activate Good, and the Generosity Commission. Kayla Marrero is a communications and community impact specialist at Giant Food, one of the Mid-Atlantic’s leading grocery brands and a trusted community anchor across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. In this role, she supports communications that connect the brand with its communities and stakeholders. A rising voice in the communications field, Marrero brings experience across social media strategy, public affairs, media relations, corporate communications and purpose-driven storytelling, with previous roles at Adfero and Hilton. She is also active in The PR Habitat, a digital-first community for young professionals growing careers in PR and communications, where she supports marketing and content strategy. Scott Pansky is the founder and chief relationship officer of Sandbox Lessons and the co-founder of Allison Worldwide. After 25 years at Allison Worldwide, he recently left the company to launch Sandbox Lessons, a consulting company that helps develop practical, interactive workplace culture programs that use timeless lessons of cooperation, trust, creativity and mutual respect to strengthen organization effectiveness and employee engagement. Utilizing his book, Playing Together in the Sandbox, he has developed a proprietary program to help nonprofits, educational institutions and brands develop relationships that not only raise brand awareness and funds, but can lead to strong cultural initiatives. He has implemented programs with Partnership with Native American, Kids in the Spotlight, the Open Hearts Foundation and his former company, Allison Worldwide.
He co-founded Allison Worldwide a week before September 11, 2001. In less than 25 years, the agency has multiple offices around the world. Ngozi Magena (she/her) is the director of internal communications at The Trevor Project, where she leads organization-wide internal communications, executive communications and organizational storytelling for the nation’s leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people.
With a B.A. in Communication from San Diego State University and an M.S. in Communication for Development and Social Change from Temple University, Magena approaches internal communications as a community practice rooted in trust, belonging and collective meaning-making. Before joining The Trevor Project, she led internal communications at Akoben LLC, a consulting firm supporting K–12 schools, higher education institutions and nonprofits through restorative practices, trauma-informed care and culturally responsive leadership.
Since joining The Trevor Project in 2022, Magena has built the organization’s internal communications function from the ground up, guiding employees through periods of organizational transformation, executive transition and high-profile public issues. With over 20 years combined experience in public policy, communication, and leadership, Dr. Heather LaMarre’s work applies behavioral science research to solving social issues. Dr. Lamarre’s line of research examines how media and communication affect attitudes, policy, and social change. This work is primarily strategy-focused. Her second line of research applies these solutions-based strategies to urgent social problems. This work is management and leadership-focused. Dr. LaMarre works closely with purpose-driven organizations that foster social innovation and solve real-world challenges. This ranges from developing effective communication strategies to implementing leadership and management tools designed to drive positive change.
Dr. LaMarre has also served as the academic and/or adminstrative director of multiple award-winning programs, including the Masters in Conflict and Communication Management, London Study Abroad and Undergraduate Internship and Practicum. From 2014-2019, LaMarre served as chair of the Klein College Faculty Council. She has completed two terms as a university faculty senate representative and one as the university graduate board representative from Klein.
